Literacy Education Courses for Women – 2019 to 2022

The Kahkashan Afghan organization successfully implemented the Literacy Education Courses for Women from 1 January 2019 to 31 March 2022 in Samangan and Ghor Provinces, with financial support from UK Aid Direct and a total budget of AFN 23,997,385.
The project aimed to improve access to basic education for women through the establishment of community-based literacy courses in underserved and rural areas. It focused on reducing illiteracy, strengthening basic literacy skills, and enhancing women’s social and educational participation.
During the three-year implementation period, the organization established 170 literacy classes, providing structured basic education and literacy training for 3,400 female learners across the targeted provinces. The program was implemented through trained facilitators and community-based learning approaches, ensuring continuous education opportunities for women in remote and vulnerable communities.
Through successful implementation of this long-term initiative, the organization contributed significantly to reducing illiteracy among women, improving reading and writing skills, and empowering women to participate more actively in social, educational, and community development activities in Samangan and Ghor provinces.
